David Brin's Official Web Site: We Hobbits are a Merry Folk... (article)
Here is more from David Brin, this time about Lord Of The Rings. Conservatives and Liberals have claimed these movies as their own and this article has enough info to bolster both sides. I'll post some more on conservative movies and conservative/Republican Hollywood soon.David Brin's Official Web Site: We Hobbits are a Merry Folk... (article)John Roberts Nomination
The deceptive NARAL AD was taken off the air last week thanks to pressure from the new media(talk radio, bloggers etc.), Republicans and even some Democrats-although right now I can't remember who exactly. This may only be a partial victory however for the new media. One of the long term strategies of groups like NARAL and the far left is to scare the moderate, independent voter away from Republicans. If these groups can tarnish a conservative, Republican nominee like Roberts now, it could influence those voters in the '06 and even '08 presidential election. They want the image of the scary Republicans in the voters minds and they may have succeeded to some extent with this ad. It may add up and do real damage. The new media is still up against a behemoth in the form of the mainstream media, including the entertainment industry, and the public education system which are all liberal or left leaning. Even if Robert's is confirmed fairly easily, which he probably will be, over the next few years these large, powerful institutions will continue to build up this image of the scary, tyrannical conservative no matter how distorted or untrue that view may be. For them, political advantage will trump honesty.

Patrick Ruffini :: Introducing the 2008 Presidential Wire
It's never too early for political junkies, especially this time with a Clinton lurking out there. Patrick Ruffini :: Introducing the 2008 Presidential WireTrufen.net | John Brosnan Passes
I just learned of this today as I was browsing the web. He was a writer I really admired and it saddens me to hear of this. I especially enjoyed his book on science fiction film The Primal Screen and also a book on James Bond James Bond In The Cinema. I respected the fact that he made it all the way from Western Australia to pursue his career in writing. He was not that well known but I think he was definitely a great writer. N.A.S.A and the Space Shuttle
Here is a link to author Jerry Pournelle's commentary on the current manned space program. It highlights the incompetence and inefficiency of a big, bloated, government bureaucracy like NASA.http://www.jerrypournelle.com/view/view372.html#NASA
