Out with the old-2005, in with the new-2006!

Last post of the year. Predictions for the midterm elections:
Republicans will loose 3-5 seats in the House, 2-3 seats in the Senate, and 2-3 Governorships but maintain a majority in all three. Then the real battle begins for the '08 Presidency. I still hope Mitt Romney can overcome some obstacles from the conservative base to get the nomination but he is way behind right now in name recognition. If not Romney then who, George Allen? They could both beat Hillary, who still looks like the favorite for the Dems, but it will be another close one.

That is a legitimate question and I am not sure how that will play out. I hope that John Kennedy's successful campaign essentially put an end to the question of non-Protestants running for the presidency. Even though that was 40 years ago the answer is still not clear, at least not for non Protestants and non Catholics. In other words, I think Romney's religion will be a factor but Kennedy has alreasy broken down a large part of the religion barrier.
