Romney, Mormons in govt
Of all the GOP contenders for 2008, Romney most reflects the positions and attitudes of the conservative base, ie, qualifications for judges, abortion, fiscal policy, etc. For those few misguided and ill-informed who challenge his Christianity, and this is no forum to debate religion, the following are an abbreviated list of Mormons at the highest levels of government who have served their country well (and without the scrutiny a Romney candidacy seems to have generated): Harry Reid, D-NV (current Senate Minority Leader); Gordon Smith, R-OR; Gen. Brent Scowcroft, Bush 41 Nat'l Security Advisor; Mike Leavitt, current Secy. of Housing; Bay Buchanan, U.S. Treasurer; David Kennedy, Secy. of Treasury; Ezra T. Benson, Secy. of Agriculture; plus dozens of governors , senators and congressmen over the years from several states.Though I'm personally a great admirer of Giuliani, and think he would have wide appeal nationally, he would have to assure the conservative base of the most important of his political philosophies: his criteria for Supreme Court appointments. At this critical point in our history, there is no greater threat to our democracy than the judiciary!

The Impossible Mission Force is bad for America - MOVIE OPINIONS - MSNBC.com

This is the first coherent explanation of the Mission Impossible movies that I have seen. After watching the first one twice from start to finish, I could not even come close to summarizing the plot as effectively. Thanks to the author for easing my mind and getting rid of a minor irritation after all these years. The Impossible Mission Force is bad for America - MOVIE OPINIONS - MSNBC.com
