Conservatives and Iraq War
Here is a posting from writer Jerry Pournelle's blog. It is perhaps the best summation of the division amongst conservatives over the Iraq war. This will continue to come up as we move toward the mid term elections next year as well as what to do about the spending on the Hurricane rebuilding. They are issues that should be dealt with as soon as possible or Republicans will be looking at big losses in those elections.

More crazy, scary liberal stuff. Can we do anything about this idiot? Recall perhaps? How could anyone have voted for her in the first place?

Blue Flypaper:Funny but scary.
Here is a parody of a liberal blog. It is funny while being spot on about how ridiculous and scary liberal ideology can be.

Prediction for the next nominee: Edith Clement. She would allow Bush to replace a woman with a woman and she is less controversial than Owen or Janice Rodgers Brown. Plus she has more Federal Appeals Court experience and she apparently was in the top three to replace O'Connor after her retirement and before Rhenquist's death elevated the Roberts nomination to the Chief Justice position. Now Bush has to fill O'Connor's seat again and Clement looks like the most logical choice. I would prefer Brown or Owen but they were just confirmed a few months ago and I don't think the President will put them through another nomination battle so soon. Besides I think there will be one maybe two more retirements(Stevens is 85, Ginsberg is 73 and Scalia and Kennedy will turn 70 next year. Before Bush's term is out he may have the chance to appoint both Brown and Owen.
